Our Breeding goals are rather simple but take immense research and time to create.
We want to produce exceptional talent, with an amateur friendly mind in a sound body wrapped in stunning good looks. Ideally making for a more economical equine partner.
How are we creating more economically friendly horses?
-By creating good minds/personalities, owners will ideally need to spend less on training/producing their next riding partner.
-By breeding specifically for more compact and sound horses, owners will ideally spend less on feed/supplements, farrier and veterinary care. Along with having a partner that stays useable well into their mid to even upper 20’s. Rather than retiring by their mid teens.
-By producing stunning good looks and hopefully chrome, owners will have a more marketable horse throughout its life. Making for an easier and more profitable process if the owner does need to sell.
We have found the ideal cross for our goals is Irish Draught, Connemara, Welsh with some continental Warmblood & a little TB sprinkled in. This has created a compact and very sound and sane horse for us. The size goal of our offspring is between 14.2h-16.2h. We do not breed with the goal of 17+h horses. Our horses are bred as all around horses with amazing jumping talent and good using gaits that lend themselves to long term soundness and enjoyment. We do not and will not breed for the hyper mobility gaits you see in today’s upper level dressage ring as they do not lend themselves to long term soundness.
Our foals are all fully registrable and eligible for inspection with multiple registries. They are by approved stallions. Mares are all registered with Full lineage on both sides. No stock horse or draft “not the same as draught” breeding in our true sport horse program. Both are present in our ranch horse program 🙂
We want to create through our sport horse program, the horse that you can show prelim this week, your kids can pony club next weekend and the whole family can ride on the beach during your next holiday🥰
The goal with our ranch horse program is to create a more solid using ranch horse. More bone and hoof, a bit more substance/size. Large enough to pull cows, smart enough to work bulls, sane enough to do all that with your 6yrs old kid onboard. For them to stay healthy, sound and sane through all weather and terrain.
Our training techniques are also simple but hard to find in today’s fast paced, instant gratification, money driven world. We want to create calm minds in both our students and our horses. To create that we need to be clear and consistent in all the things we do with them. Clear boundaries and goals with consistent guidance and direction. Sounds simple, right? lol
This means that the horse or student will mostly set the pace of early progression. The ol’ saying “you must go slow to go fast” rings very true in our program. We take the first part of training at a mellow pace set by the comfort level of the student or horse. By doing this we make sure there aren’t holes in the foundational training. By having a very solid foundation, all future training progresses at a generally much quicker rate. It also helps alleviate or reduce future stress responses which can make horses and riders unpredictable and Over reactive.
All of this we have wrapped up in the over all goals of transparency & humane practices.
